The new coven

Home Up Basics Magic The new coven

For many starting out, their would appear to be a big step from your first hesitant search for knowledge to running your own coven.

Within the craft, we are not point scoring, you don't have to serve years as a slave before being able to do more, or be a certain age, or worship any man or woman.

Every witch is a priestess or priest, they have no go between, between them and the spirit. they don't have to know everything, they never will, and what they do believe does not have to either conform or be fixed as your experience and wisdom grows your ideas and knowledge will change as long as you stay open minded.

A few people may have read  few books, or been along to a few meetings, but if the knowledge they have gained is not correct and they take it as fact and are not open minded they may be far behind the new recruit with an open mind.

Let us suppose a person saw a TV program involving a witch and just decided with no knowledge that they wished to become one. Let us suppose that they spend a little time looking ata few web sites like the ones mentioned within this site, and then think a little, the question is can they form their own coven and learn as they go along the path together. We posed this question to aqua the wisest and most knowledgeable of all witches.

Aqua said "No person knows all of the craft knowledge, and craft knowledge is not fully defined, is still evolving and changing to be up to date with each generation. Much of what our grandparents felt was important magically, today we have considered less so, yet some from older times and some new knowledge is more relevant to us. In our age in many cases it is starting with an open mind, getting the facts, and working out the options that presents the greatest benefits. Throughout life we learn from our first smile to our last breath, along this path we learn many things, make many mistakes and gain both happiness and experience. I  see no set point along this path that we could say a person has reached a point where they can start a new journey, it is up to the individual to decide if they are ready to add another strand to the path they are taking and whenever they wish to, so yes, a novice on their first day as a witch can with al validity decide to form and lead a coven, the success they achieve will depend upon how open minded they can be and how much knowledge and experience they search out."

Most people start out with a circle a group of friends joining them in their study and experiments to start and later turn this into a coven when they are ready.

The point I hope you may consider is that you don't have to have been born a witch, slept with one (unless you want to) or been processed within a ritual by another witch to become one. It is a matter of choice and an agreement between you and the spirit. the spirit can also be any face of god that you choose, so you can be a Muslim, Christian , Jew, new age follower or any other. The spirit to you can be male or female, neither or both, nature and reside within you, all things or any other place you wish. The spirit is the most powerful of all entities and intelligent so you don't need to pretend or put on a circus act, and is able to present itself in the format that suits you best. If you wish you can use different faces of the spirit for different purposes, and far more.

With practice you can also carry out a two way conversation with it, so the days on one sided prayers or spells will have gone. As your skills grow, and you tune in more, you will not only be able to do more but have a degree of confidence, understanding life, and more than you let on.

Further along the path, hopefully you will be able to look back at those new on the path, still stumbling and offer them a hand will at the same time accepting that they have the right to make their own mistakes and try out new ideas of their own.
