One of our main functions is to hold the hand of those taking their first
steps into the craft and those who have perhaps entered into the dark without a
torch to see their way.
When people set out on this journey, they are often excited, frequently a
little scared, and more than not mislead as to what they are about to experience.
If you were brought up as a part of a Christian community you may even feel
what you are doing is wrong, or that some retribution may be waiting for you.

In practice you set out on a journey of discovery, collecting pleasant experiences,
thinking things through and deciding for yourself what you can and cannot
accept.
There is no risk to you presented by the craft, but some who discover you are
'dabbling' may fear what they do not understand and this might present a risk to
you.

For some the most difficult part is being able to make their own decisions,
to seek advice and then choose if you wish to not take it, without anyone
getting upset with you, and still being prepared to help you again another time.
The lack of rules, of complex laws, of punishment or threats is something
that perhaps many have not expected. The freedom to tell any senior witch that
you think they are talking cobblers with no fear of expulsion or worse.
Of course once you start to understand more this all makes perfect sense, and
you start to realise you have to take responsibility yourself for your own life
and to make your own decisions, but can draw upon the bank of experience available
from the friends that you will make, and who do not seek to tell you how to live
your life.
